During its more than 30 years of existence, the orchestra has performed an impressive variety of repertoire, including music from the periods of Baroque, Classicism, Romanticism and the modern era, as well as a number of works that have been commissioned especially for the orchestra. Founded by Tovijs Lifšics, the group has toured to great acclaim throughout the former Soviet Union, Europe, the United States and even India. Musicians such as Emil Gilels, Vladimir Spivakov, Oleg Kagan, Lazar Berman, Gidon Kremer, Daniel Blumenthal and Neeme Järvi have performed with the orchestra.
Since 1997, the orchestra has worked closely with the conductor Carlo Jans. This collaboration has resulted in eight CDs which have been recorded under the Luxemburger's baton. The Latvian Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra resides at the prestigious Wagner Hall in Riga.
